BANPAC is working to sustain our six years of Rethink Your Drink educational and social marketing efforts through organizational practice and policy change.  Our efforts are intended to support organizations so that:
  • Youth who have participated in Sugar Savvy workshops and are reducing or eliminating sugary drinks aren’t faced with those very beverages in their after school youth and sports programs
  • Low income community residents who are trying to reduce added sugars don’t have to face a table full of sugary drinks at programs and meetings in their communities
  • People who have learned to reduce added sugars at work aren’t faced with sugary drinks in every meeting, at events, and in the cafeteria and vending machines.

Thank you to Kaiser Permanente Community Benefit Program for supporting our efforts.  In 2012, 15 organizations implemented healthy beverage policies impacting 308,640 Bay Area residents.  In 2013, we’re working with 20 additional Bay Area organizations to pass healthy beverage/wellness policies that meet the Public Health Institute’s 100% Healthy Beverage Standards.  If you know a Bay Area organization that would like to participate, please contact susan.karlins@phd.sccgov.org.
